How to connect an Android phone to a TV with a USB-C cable
If your phone can send video over USB-C, one USB-C to HDMI cable is all you need. Many phones cannot, and then no cable or adapter will make it work. Check your phone’s spec sheet for “DisplayPort” or “video output” before you buy anything.

Why this works
USB-C with video and HDMI can pass the same signal through different plugs, so an adapter cable is enough. No power needed.
Before you buy
- This USB-C to HDMI cable is one-way: USB-C with video end at the source, HDMI end at the screen or speaker.
- Your USB-C port must support video (DisplayPort Alt Mode, Thunderbolt or USB4).
Good to know
- iPhone 15 and newer (USB-C) can send video. Many Android phones cannot; check your model’s specs for "DisplayPort output".
- Many "HDMI only" TVs still have a small AV input hidden on the side. Press Input/Source on the remote and look for AV or Composite.
