Not every USB-C port can send video. The port looks identical either way. A DisplayPort or Thunderbolt symbol, or the manufacturer spec sheet, confirms it.
Going from USB-C with video to something else
- HDMI: USB-C to HDMI cable (no power needed). Your USB-C port must support video (DisplayPort Alt Mode, Thunderbolt or USB4).
- DisplayPort: USB-C to DisplayPort cable (no power needed). Your USB-C port must support video.
- VGA: USB-C to VGA adapter. Your USB-C port must support video.
