Common confusion
VGA is analog and carries no sound. Getting HDMI into VGA needs a small active converter, not a plain cable.

- HDMI: VGA to HDMI converter (needs power).
Getting something else into VGA
- HDMI: HDMI to VGA adapter. Sound is not carried by VGA. Models with a 3.5 mm audio out can feed speakers.
- DisplayPort: DisplayPort to VGA adapter.
- Mini DisplayPort: Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter.
- USB-C with video: USB-C to VGA adapter. Your USB-C port must support video.
